A naturally decaffeinated Mexican coffee with notes of dates, golden syrup and soft toffee. Using the Mountain Water Process, this coffee delivers full flavour and sweetness without the caffeine.
Mountain Water Decaf is a natural, chemical-free process that uses pure water from Mexico’s highest mountain peaks to remove caffeine from coffee. Unlike conventional decaffeination methods that rely on chemical solvents, this Process uses only water, temperature, and filtration to gently extract caffeine while preserving the beans original flavor.
Today, all Monte Alban farmers are fully certified organic, practicing time-honored traditional farming methods and processing without any synthetic chemicals, while producing their own rich organic compost. For them, farming is a deeply held heritage rooted in generational knowledge and shaped by their unique local culture and identity.
Organic certification, fully funded by our trusted import partner for this coffee, Caravela, is completely free for all associated farmers, enabling them to confidently enter the premium specialty coffee market and secure significantly better, fairer prices for their hard work.
This exceptional decaf is also a fantastic choice for the environment, as it is carefully decaffeinated directly at origin using no harsh chemical solvents. It stands as a clear, delicious testament to just how high-quality, rich, and flavorful decaf can truly be. By utilizing a natural sugarcane process local to the region, the green coffee beans retain their vibrant origin characteristics and natural sweetness.
The final result in your cup is a beautifully balanced brew featuring smooth notes of sweet milk chocolate, bright citrus acidity, and a satisfyingly clean finish. Supporting this coffee protects surrounding ecosystems, empowers smallholder agricultural communities, and proves that choosing decaf never requires compromising on exceptional quality or ethics.
Rather than build our own impact goals we have used the United Nations’ framework of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to guide how we purchase our coffee. This enables us to align our impact with some of the biggest social and environmental challenges we face today.
