From Farm to Cup: What’s Been Brewing at Amamus

Good coffee takes time and focus. Here is a look at what we have been up to at the Roastery in Hampton, and what is coming next.

A new website, and a new way to shop

Our new website is live, and it has been built around one idea: making things simple. The biggest change is the shop. Whether you are a business that has been with us for years or you just want a bag of great coffee for home, you can now order directly online.

Browse our full range of coffee, consumables and sundries, log in to manage and track your orders, and add anything you need to your next delivery. We would love to hear what you think.

Giving back: our partnership with Habitats & Heritage

Habitats & Heritage is one of our longest-standing partners, and we believe strongly in the work they do. They are a not-for-profit organisation centred on giving back to the community, and we are proud to support them by donating our chaff to enrich the soil in their community garden. Better soil means better produce, and a waste product from our roastery goes to a great cause.

We recently visited their Harvest Festival and met some inspiring groups who benefit from their mission. One of them is the Vineyard Community, a charity that supports adults in mental health recovery through gardening. All the food they grow is used by the Richmond food bank to provide for the local community.

For us, it matters that what we do creates something positive for everyone. Seeing a material that would normally be thrown away turned into something the community can genuinely benefit from is a great reminder of that.

So, what is chaff?

Chaff is the thin, papery skin that comes off coffee beans during roasting. Green coffee beans go into our roaster in Hampton, and as they roast they expand and the silvery skin flakes away. It is a completely natural, carbon-rich plant material, which makes it ideal for enriching soil.

Back from Peru

Our founder, Tim, has just returned from a trip to visit some of the coffee farmers we work with in Peru. Seeing their work first hand was inspiring, and it reinforced why we put so much care and attention into every stage of our coffee, from farm to cup.

We captured the trip on camera and will be sharing behind-the-scenes videos over the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can get a sneak peek on our Instagram, where we shared plenty from the journey. Follow along to lift the lid on coffee and see the difference your choice of beans makes.

New syrups for autumn

As the season changes, so does our syrup range. From caramelised almond to amaretto, we have added a selection of autumn flavours that are well worth exploring. Head to the shop to see what is available.

The complete experience

We pride ourselves on looking after everything from farm to cup. We source quality, origin coffee from producers who share our commitment to high standards and responsible practices, then roast the beans ourselves to deliver a consistently exceptional cup.

It does not stop at coffee either. From teas and hot chocolate to syrups and fresh filtered water via a Zip tap, we can take care of an entire office drinks station.

What’s coming next

  • Taking the Amamus experience somewhere a little unexpected
  • Highlights from our Peru trip
  • Some amazing new beans, soon to be released
